Random Acts #2
I love getting pictures like this...
- I love getting pictures like the one posted above.
- I'm never renting a movie from Blockbuster or any other movie store ever again. Netflix is king.
- If you're watching a movie that has a sequel or third installment (threequel?), watching them in order is recommended. And it doesn't have to be all in the same night. Over the last couple of weeks I've watched the entire Bourne trilogy. Awesome.
- The LA Times reviewed Built for Show. That's pretty cool.
- Girls who lift heavy stuff or do multiple sets of chin-ups are sexy as hell. Go find one. (Just make sure she doesn't show you up!)
- I get the same feeling before I do a radio interview as I do before a heavy deadlift: amped and nervous. So far I've been on major networks in LA, New York, Phoenix, Vancouver, Cincinnati, and Minneapolis. Next on the list is Detroit, Tampa, Seattle, and some huge syndicated shows that play nearly everywhere.
- I'm going to be on Mancow's Morning Madness on January 5th. Apparently he's heralded as the next Howard Stern. I did not know this. I need to get out more.
- My friend Caleb has a very cool free e-book at his website Double Your Gains.com. Go check it out and get a ton of free information.
- I usually have some kind of drink every day, whether bourbon, beer, or wine. Thanks to my friend at the wine shoppe, I've learned saving wine for a few days is as easy as sucking up the air. Now I won't have to drink the whole bottle and feel like an alcoholic.
- I always have SURGE Workout Fuel before (and sometimes after) my training sessions. I don't think I'd train without it!
- My training is kicking ass. More updates soon!

Just want to say about the girls who lift heavy stuff: you're right, they are sexy.
My girlfriend does multiple sets of chins, and consequently has an awesome back. She also squatted 135 (her BW is 115lbs) for reps for the first time a few weeks ago.
What's a good way to get into wine? I'm a huge craft beer fanatic, but have no clue where to start with wine. It seems like something one should know at least something about.

I agree, the Bourne movie trilogy is awesome. Very different from the books which inspired it, but I think they made the movies really well.
I haven't seen a girl in the gym I go to lift heavy stuff, or even do a pullup unassisted :( Girls here mostly do group classes, use just machines, or lift little dumbbells (at least they're not pink). I did see a girl doing deadlifts once when I was in Oz, and I think she caused me to miscalculate the weight for my squats on that day (she was working out in the rack next to mine). -
I can't find that Harviestoun Ola Dubh stuff anywhere here in Canada. I guess once again us Canadians get shafted. Same with netflix, same with T-nation shipping.
Girls lifting heavy shit is hotness. All I get is girls who refuse to do pushups because they're afraid they'll look like a football player. Where does this mentality come from?!
Time to lift heavy shit.

To Chris-
A good start on wine is to visit a local winery. Lots of them have tastings that you can attend for not too much coin. Of course, there's tons of books out there, but the best way to learn is to start drinking. Find stuff your friends like, reviewers like, then decide what you like. If it ends up being craft beer, at least you'll like it that much more! -
I can feel your positive vibe from here - Keep that momentum going, Nate!

This afternoon I am finishing my third week on the Built for Show program. Workouts have been difficult and fantastic. I have my Surge Recovery after workouts, and was wondering how to incorporate Surge Workout Fuel into my workout. Should I be taking both? One during and one right after? Thank you for your amazing book Nate, it is has and continues to be very helpful. Much success to you.
I also enjoyed your Interview with Dr. Tim Ziegenfuss. Thanks again. -
@Chris
I'm a huge craft beer fan, too. Mike had some good advice. The only other thing I'd recommend is to watch a few episodes of Wine Library TV with Gary Vaynerchuck. Do a quick Google search and you'll see why he's such a badass.
@Kaiser
Thanks for the note, man. Seems like things are going well for you!
@Mike
Great to hear it, Mike. I think Workout Fuel is a great addition to any program if you're really pushing yourself. (And it sounds like you are.) Give it a try but I'd start with a very basic protocol of mixing two servings (two scoops) in water five minutes before your workout and then sipping on it throughout. Follow it up with the Surge Recovery.
Cheers,

I like the "Random Acts" buddy. I can say to everyone too that Nate's training has been kickin ass! Major ass! Keep up the awsome work pal!
Side note- If you don't have "Built For Show" yet, you should!!

Nate,
I go to a YMCA in a major city. Tons of gals. Mostly found on the treadmill and elip. A very few will venture to the hammerstrength machines. Even fewer will lift a free weight.
Nothing hotter than a lady doing squats in the rack, eh?
cheers and Merry Christmas -
Great info. I used to spend alot of my time yachting and being involved in sports. It was most certainly the most memorable period of my young life and your info kind of reminded me of that. Thanks
