The Nate Green Experience

Hey guys, Nate here. I'm proud to announce that I'm now the Program Director of Scrawny To Brawny. From now on all of my blogs and articles will be posted on the brand-new Scrawny To Brawny Blog. So if you enjoyed what you read here, please go check it out. (It's awesome, if I say so myself.) I'm keeping the NGE website alive for resource reasons, but will no longer be actively updating it. The best way to get in touch with me is through leaving a comment on the Scrawny To Brawny blog or by posting on the S2B Facebook page. See you guys over at the new blog!

Redesign and Technical Updates

Nate in Portland Nate in Portland

Today marks the launch of The Nate Green Experience 3.0!

This version had several goals in mind while under construction:

General Overhaul

The graphical update is pretty straightforward: Nate wanted to freshen up the look and feel of his site. Also, because Nate is a hopeless Narcissist, he wanted more pictures of himself on the site. You know. For the ladies.

Performance and Security Enhancements

This is all really geeky and probably not that interesting to anyone but me. If you're really interested, email me and I'll tell you all about it.

Improved Commenting System

The "I am not a robot" spam prevention system has been updated, despite its total awesomeness.

To increase usability, I've replaced the robot verification with a simple math problem (if it doesn't look that simple to you, I'll give you a hint: 4 + 5 = 9). The real benefit of this improvement, however, is that after you've proven you're not a spam bot, my software will remember you, meaning your name, email address, and website will be stored for future comments. You won't have to prove you're human anymore, either.

I know, I know. You're welcome.

For those of you that would like to keep up with the comment stream from a blog entry, you now have the option to receive subsequent comment posts via email. There's a checkbox under the comment form that'll allow you to see what else people have to say about things.

Improved Contact Form

If you click the "Contact Nate" menu item at the top of the screen, a contact form will slide down. This will directly email Nate straight from the site, making it easier for you to send fan mail, hate mail, haikus, or whatever else suits your fancy directly to Nate's inbox without needing to navigate away from Kyle Hibler lip-syncing "Now You're a Man!"

Other Information

This is a new site, so it's bound to have bugs. If you catch any, drop 'em in this entry's comments or let Nate or myself know.

The redesign looks amazing, Jason. Great work!

Nate, what brand is that backpack you're always carrying? Mine's on its last legs (or maybe straps?) and with a lot of traveling planned for this summer, I'd really appreciate a recommendation. Thanks.

Looking forward to some new content soon.

What a fantastic looking website. It has features that I haven't seen on a website before! Jason did a superb job.

Very nice! Makes my re-design that's still in the works look like a child did it. Congrats!

This is a wacky layout Nate. its a pretty cool new layout. I am digging the new post surfing mechanism (instead of just having it in a sequential order). The pictures make you look like... a dweeb and not like the jacked BAMF you really are. But then again, I'm not sure if that is what you were going for.

PS. Subscribing to your twitter was definitely one of the best 5 things i did last week.

    Nate,

Is that a copy of The Omnivore's Dilemma in the picture up top? That's such an awesome book.

Oooo... Maybe you could do a post on books that people should read (Not just training or nutrition, maybe some fiction books too)

I miss the home page pic of the legs of the girls sitting on the couch with you. It pissed my wife off every time she caught a glimpse of it. I demand it be resurrected!

    Nate,

Love the new website. I'm merely speculating because I don't know you on a personal level, but I feel this is your personality. It is clean, classy and quirky/not-so-serious... but serious professional. Don't know if that makes sense... It was a little confusing at first (Chimay brewery tasting last night at a local bar.... rough morning) but after a few seconds I realized how user friendly it is. Looking forward to some new stuff.

Nice website design! My roommate got your book and now I'm reading it. I'm particularly impressed with how the "recent" stories open up, and the way the footer picture moves when they open up. I'm a recent college grad and definitely want to figure out how to make a career for myself as an independent. Looks like you're doing it, so I'll definitely follow what you have to say.
