The Nate Green Experience

This Girl Can Kick Your Ass...Really.

All smiles All smiles

I worked with Pip last summer and she was hands-down one of the most energetic, strong, and hilarious clients I've ever trained. While most girls can't give me more than three pushups, I've watched Pip do an ungodly amount of single leg pistol squats, pullups, and red-wine drinking than I ever thought possible.

I've seen you do some pretty amazing stuff in the gym. How does it feel to be more "hard core" than most of the pansy ass guys?

I love kicking guys asses. It feels really, really good to get out there, be stereotyped as this tiny little blonde chick who skis in purple and then crush all the guys on the ride up.

I even had a friend’s boyfriend get pissed at me this summer for riding my mountain bike faster than him, and I thought I was taking it easy that day! However, the industry is full of plenty of “hard core†people, and I can guarantee that while I may beat some guys up the mountain, there will always be somebody out there who can really kick my ass.

Whether it is following pro-skiing veteran and avid mountaineer Chris Davenport up the most terrifying boot pack I’ve ever encountered or following my roommate Suzanne Grahame off of the biggest hucks I’ve seen, some people are made of muscle, and others are just made of guts.

I think I’m made of the former. I work hard. I kick my ass constantly, whether it’s in the gym, on the mountain, in the ocean, or on my bike, I work for it. I’ve suffered enough season-ending injuries to know how important it is to keep your body strong through the off-season.

I think what I’m doing right is having fun. Going to the gym is not my ideal morning, but I know that it is a tool I need. I constantly mix up my workouts and my playlists to keep it interesting. I recently attended a conference in San Francisco for female pro-athletes and each morning we did an introduction to Crossfit. While Crossfit is definitely not the ideal workout for everyone, it also inspired me to incorporate more dynamic moves into my workout.

I ran 11 400’s and did 106 pullups (ok I may have been cheating by putting my feet down, but really, who can do that many pull ups anyway?) in 20 minutes the other day, and while it may not necessarily have been fun, it was different and I was on the beach.

Plus, the workouts are super quick, so I feel like I’m still getting legit “training†sessions in with enough time to get out there and surf in the afternoon (or do yoga, or mountain bike, or just go play…)

About Pip, as written by her:

Pip Hunt is currently interning at Powder Magazine and attempting to graduate from the University of Utah with a BA in Journalism and English. But she just keeps on getting distracted by the snow. She has yet to partake in a spring semester, but in the meantime is competing on the IFSA World Tour circuit, working with photographers, and living the life of a ski bum. She is currently working with Salomon, Smith and Hestra gloves. Pip also mountain bikes, yogafies, and is attempting to learn how to surf, although it is little more than glorified drowning at the moment.

Pip is a excellent skier and very good real athlete; however, she brags about kicking guys butts in sking, mountain bike riding or at the gym - those other guys are mostly the "Average Joes" who put in very little training time. Those guys have their own agenda other than training as an athlete. The time one invests into training makes the real difference in performance. So why have an ego? There are multilple trained men that can smoke her butt in different sporting events and are a lot more powerful. Will will never see Pip playing in the NFL, Major League Baseball, or in mens Professional Mixed Marital Arts. Remember, modesty is always the best policy!
