The Nate Green Experience

Why Me Being Sick Is Good For You

Mean wearing a mask. Mean wearing a mask.

This morning I emailed TC (my editor for TMUSCLE) my weekly article update and let him know I was feeling sick.

A few moments later his response pinged on my screen.

"Syphilis?"

Then my girlfriend punched me. A good start.

A trip to the doctor, a diagnosis of Swine Flu (how can she possibly know that without a cotton swab and testing?) a prescription for some hydrocodone-laced cough syrup, and a big glass of water later and here I am feeling, well, like absolute shit.

But that's OK since I've got a few things in store for you guys and now finally have some spare time to work on them.

So what's coming up?

First, of course, is more high-quality articles on TMUSCLE.

Secondly, my blog is undergoing a new re-redesign with a bunch of cool features, buttons, and more frequent posting from me about training, eating, cooking, lifestyle, and random " a day in Nate's life" type of stuff. Oh, and I'm giving away some cool stuff for absolutely free. (You can't have my mask, though. Nice try.)

What am I giving away for free? Check it:

17 Tips for Getting the Life You Want
What Women Want Workout sample (a free workout)
2 Things Women Hate About Your Body
A bunch of bad-ass, informative, cool blogs (at least I think they're cool.)

The new site should be up in the next day or two, so check back soon. And I have a post about bulking to gain muscle coming up in a few days.

So what do I need from you? Nothing. (Well, if you wanted to send me some soup I'd definitely appreciate it.)

Sound good?

Hope you feel better! I've seen a few studies of folks having success with reducing the time down with swine flu by adding large amounts of vitamin D supplmentation to their daily routine. May be worth researching!

    Feel better soon Nate.

Don't forget to rest well during your downtime. How else do you expect to get better if you're just keep going and going like an Energizer bunny?

I myself am feeling a bit sick with a sore throat and perhaps a cold. Is it from raking up over 25 bags of leaves yesterday? Does raking stir up dust and germs? Or was it the sudden shift of temperature from close to 0C to mid teen Celsius that caused this?

I was so tempted to call in sick, but then I realized I had to go on a field trip with my class.

Hope you feel better, man. You know, out here in the Netherlands the "Swine" Flu is referred to as the "Mexican" Flu. So have one of Defranco's Bomber Taco's in honor of your Mexican sickness once you work up some sort of appetite.

Giving away things for free is always cool and appreciated. BTW, maybe you could give away a jug of Anaconda or the new Mag-10 protein powder. Not to everyone, but maybe to some lucky winner out there.

Hey Nate, since you're going to be stuck at home for a bit, maybe you could write up some recipe articles like how to make broccoli taste better. Things like that. Just an idea. Also, you should post up some more training vids, those are always fun to watch.

    Cheers and feel better

Sorry to hear your sick. That is some crap that they assume you have the swine flu without testing. Today my sister went to the doctor and they gave here the same diagnosis. They did not test her for swine, only for strep throat and that turned up negative. So they diagnosed here with swine flu, that is some messed up stuff. So that why the whole country is so worried cause everyone automatically gets swine flu... Feel better. Your mask is not as cool as my sisters...

    Hey Nate,

I'm a big fan of the blog. I was wondering what blogs you follow, doesn't have to be training related as I'm into most of what you post even the non-training stuff?

What about some egg drop soup? Try boiling 4 cups of low sodium chicken broth, scramble 2-3 whole eggs, and slowly pour it into the broth. Wait about 30 seconds, and serve topped with parsley or green onion. (one of my favorite soup recipes -quick 'n easy)
